A magical singing moment with grandma
On Friday we had the extraordinary opportunity to film with a young musician from the Motor City, Marlon Morton.
The filming was not in a private studio or prominent concert venue or even a club, which is where you can usually find Marlon and his band, Remnose. No, this was a one on one serenade Marlon allowed us to film; he sang a song he wrote for his grandmother, Mae Morton, who is living with dementia.
The song “Garden we Grew“ is about Mae and her husband Jack, Marlon's grandfather. As you listen to the words, you realize that it’s written from the perspective of Mae and what she is going through as she is trying to remember the love of her life.
We are thrilled and touched that we will have the opportunity to feature Marlon and Mae in our film “Those on the Front Lines of Alzheimer’s & Dementia”.
Additionally, we are excited to be able to announce we will be premiering our film on June 3rd at the Royal Oak Music Theatre. Details will be soon to follow about how you can obtain tickets.
