Robert stone visits with Dad and Neurocore

Father-son relationships are most often special and unique. This is no different for Robert Stone and his father, Dr. Alan Stone, Robert’s boyhood hero. What is so tragic about their current relationship is when Robert is in town from Florida visiting his mom, Annette, and his dad; he is seeing his father trapped in a state of unknowns because he is living with late stage Alzheimer’s. For Robert, this is always painful as he comforts his dad with loving hugs, ensuring his father that he is loved. These visits also remind Robert just how special his mother is, who like so many caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients, endures long hours of care for her husband of 40+ years.

“My mother teaches all of us about the discipline of love and care. It’s so hard to see what she has to endure” Robert said. She comforts Robert by saying “we make it work and I take every moment day by day.”

Robert, who is now 53, has his own concerns in regards to his cognitive health. “I am trying to make sure I do all I can with all the current information available to us. I want to help ensure I can cognitively age as healthy as possible.”
