We had the opportunity to visit the Karmanos Cancer Institute located in Detroit, Michigan. Karmanos is the largest cancer research and provider network in Michigan with approximately 13,000 new patients annually and conducting more than 800 cancer-specific scientific investigation programs and clinical trials.

We stopped in to speak with one of their beloved oncologists, Dr. Abhinav Deol, whose primary disciplines are in hematologic cancers and bone marrow transplants. As a faculty member at Wayne State University, Dr. Deol is also currently conducting stem-cell research. Deol’s immense amount of knowledge on these oncological topics is something we are looking forward to sharing in our new film, “Those on the Front Lines of Cancer.”

During the filming we also had the chance to talk with one of Deol’s patients, Maureen McFarland, about her Leukemia cancer journey.
