We had the opportunity to sit and talk with singer/songwriter Stew Francke in his private attic recording studio. Stew is a 20-year survivor of leukemia, much to his sister Kit’s selfless offer of her bone marrow for his transplant. Since those dark days at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, Stew has become a strong advocate for anyone who has found themselves on a cancer journey.
The poignant and insightful interview touched on a wide range of issues including financial toxicity and opioid addiction, which Stew found himself immersed in while struggling with pain control. Stewart’s passionate, speak his mind attitude provides a relatable and understandable point of view for the audience of our film “Those on the Front Lines of Cancer”. We are so fortunate and grateful to have Stew featured in our film.
“Those on the Front Lines of Cancer” will be a two-hour DPTV/PBS film that will debut this fall with JoAnne Purtan as our host. Before the film premieres across Michigan on PBS, we will be hosting a community leader media premiere. Please stay tuned for dates.
